El Husseini met Siddiqui of the Grand Mosque of Paris: Our message to the moderates is to affirm the civilized call of Islam and cooperate in order to maintain peace and security
The Secretary-General of the Arab Islamic Council Dr. Mohamad Ali El Husseini met the Director of Al-Ghazali Institute at the Grand Mosque of Paris, Dr. Jalul Siddiqui where a general discussion on Islamic affairs was held.
During the meeting, El Husseini stressed that the scholars hold a great responsibility in showing the essence of Islam's tolerance message which is based on what our noble messenger directed by saying "spread peace among you". In view of the immense number of people who work on misguiding and distorting Islam as well as those who abuse Islam for vicious political benefits, it is our duty as apostles of Islam and advocates of tolerance and moderation to work by the humanitarian message of Islam and to show the world that this religion is an invitation to civilization and tolerance, not to barbarity, unlike the doings of the various terrorist and sectarian groups.
El Husseini proceeded, "it is not enough to clear ourselves from the doings of such terrorist groups and those executing misguiding agendas. It is not enough as well to state that our religion is innocent from them. Rather, it is our duty to reply with thought and wisdom and to reveal the deviation and injustice of such groups. Additionally, it is our duty to urge them to refute the black and evil thoughts that they carry. This is a necessity and responsibility for all of us".
El Husseini concluded with a recommendation to Muslims residing in the West, particularly in Europe. It is to respect the laws of their countries of residence and to cooperate with the their authorities to maintain security, stability and peaceful coexistence based on the divine commandment "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression".
